Beauty fans hail £9 highlighter that gives ‘glowy skin’

e.l.f. Cosmetics has established itself as a powerhouse for high-quality beauty products at accessible prices, and its newest offering continues this tradition. The brand’s Halo Glow Silky Powder Highlighter has become an instant online hit, with customers raving about its ‘buttery soft’ texture that ‘melts’ seamlessly into skin for a ‘silky glass-skin glow.’

This £9 standout has been celebrated as an ‘incredible’ budget-friendly option compared to Rare Beauty’s £26 highlighter. Offered in five different hues, ranging from gleaming champagne tones to rich bronze shades, the delicately ground micro-shimmer creates a luminous effect that reportedly stays put throughout the day without appearing cakey or settling into lines.

The product’s consistency sets it apart from competing brands. Fans characterise it as a blend between a cream and a powder, providing featherlight coverage that ‘blends like a dream’ with no product fallout. It works especially well on mature complexions, as the silky formula doesn’t accumulate in fine lines or around the eyes.

For those who favour liquid formulations, e.l.f. recommends applying the powder over its Halo Glow Highlight Beauty Wand (£10) to achieve an ‘extra lit’ appearance. This moisturising liquid, enriched with squalane, closely resembles Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wand (£31) and delivers a comparable iridescent result at just one-third the cost.

For those who favour a sponge-tip applicator in a tube, Kiko Milano’s Glow Fusion Dream Highlighter (£14.99) is another excellent option. Its smooth, buildable formula delivers luminous pigments exactly where desired for a subtle, radiant finish.

Despite being a recent launch, the Halo Glow Silky Powder Highlighter has already achieved an impressive 4.7-star rating. One shopper noted: “The e.l.f. Halo Glow Silky Powder Highlighter gives the prettiest natural shine without looking chunky or glittery,” the Daily Record reports.

“It blends super easily and melts into the skin for a smooth, lit-from-within glow. Perfect for everyday wear and doesn’t emphasise texture.”

Another customer said: “I just bought it today and used it once, and it’s incredible! As a tan, mixed girly, this shows up perfectly, and its tiny compact is so nice to toss into my purse or pocket! Barely put my finger on it and had good pigment.”

A third reviewer wrote: “This highlighter is absolutely stunning. It’s silky and beautifully sparkly without looking chunky or over-the-top. I’m definitely not a makeup expert and usually stick to the bare minimum (foundation, blush, lipstick), but this instantly elevates my look. It gives the prettiest glow and genuinely makes me feel so beautiful when I wear it.”

That said, not every customer has been entirely persuaded. One individual said: “The glow was very minimal on my skin and seemed to disappear pretty quickly after applying.

“It might be nice if you prefer an extremely subtle, barely-there highlight, but I personally wanted a bit more payoff. It’s not a bad product, just not the level of glow I was looking for.”

However, one particularly enthusiastic reviewer sang its praises: “From the very first swipe, it delivers the most gorgeous, lit-from-within glow without looking glittery or overdone.

“The texture is buttery smooth and blends like a dream – no patchiness, no fallout. A little goes a long way, and it truly lasts all day without fading or emphasising texture.”
