Princess Kate makes ‘bold’ move as she prepares for major role | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales is slowly transitioning her wardrobe as she prepares for the next major chapter in her life – that of being the future Queen, a fashion expert has claimed.

Princess Kate has been wowing royal fans with her wardrobe ever since she came into the spotlight during the early days of her relationship with Prince William.

Her impact on the fashion industry was very obvious from early on, when, after the official engagement announcement to the Prince of Wales, her now-famous dark blue Issa wrap dress was sold out in minutes, marking the beginning of the “Kate effect.”

And while the royal has not made many public appearances this year, due to her ongoing cancer treatment – she only appeared at Trooping the Colour in June and the Wimbledon finals this month – the “Kate effect” is still going strong.

But it looks like Kate has slowly started shifting towards “bolder” looks which are reminiscent of the late Queen Elizabeth and according to one style expert, there could be a good reason why.

Royal author Robert Hardman wrote in his 2011 biography Our Queen: “My favourite remark she ever said was, ‘I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am.’”

Now celebrity stylist and fashion expert, Leroy Dawkins touched down on why Princess Kate is shifting into a bolder wardrobe.

He told OK!: “It has been noticed by many royal watchers that the Princess of Wales wears one colour outfits – and there are many reasons why she may choose to do this.

“The tone-on-tone trend, better known as easy dressing, may suit the princess, especially after her recent health problems – and also because she is a busy mother of three young children.

“Even with a stylist, it’s a quick and easy way to dress by keeping it to one colour – such as the purple dress she recently wore at the Wimbledon final – it’s no fuss dressing but still looks well out together and stands out.

“The princess could also be transitioning her wardrobe for her future role as Queen and could be following style ideas from the late Queen Elizabeth II who also favoured one colour dressing as she was a busy working mother and monarch – so this trend absolutely works for a busy lifestyle.”

The expert added that while Kate usually favours the colour blue and chooses to co-ordinate her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince George at public events, there is a significance behind her choices.

He explained: “Colours chosen can also let you know of the wearer’s mood as colours represent certain messages. The princess wears red, navy, white, camel and light blue. The tone-on-tone trend of dressing is also a favourite of the Duchess of Sussex.

“Red is associated with love. Camel is associated with energy, cheerfulness, activity, fire and warmth. The Princess’s favourite blue is regal and also symbolises serenity, stability, inspiration, or wisdom.

“She is a working mother who is slowly transitioning and finding her way in fashion for the next chapter of her life.”
