Former James Bond cast in Thursday Murder Club movie from Steven Spielberg | Films | Entertainment

Back in 2020, Pointless presenter Richard Osman published his debut novel about a group of pensioners who team up to solve a mysterious killing.

The Thursday Murder Club sold 45,000 copies in its first three days, becoming the fastest-selling adult crime debut in recorded history, with its fifth novel in the series out next year.

Months before the first book’s publication, Steven Spielberg’s production company Amblin Entertainment purchased the global film rights.

And now the movie adaptation’s cast has been announced with some A-list stars.

Former James Bond legend Pierce Brosnan will star in The Thursday Murder Club as Ron Ritchie.

He’ll be joined by Dame Helen Mirren as Elizabeth Best and Sir Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim Arif. The fourth main character Joyce Meadowcroft is yet to be cast.

Home Alone and Harry Potter’s Chris Columbus will write and direct the film, which will be shot from the end of June to September in the UK.
