Frustrating yellow stains on your favorite garments may seem impossible to get out, but there are some tried and tested methods to help extract the stubborn spots.

Alexa Shae, a wardrobe stylist in Los Angeles, California, cued her TikTok followers in on how they could get yellow stains out of the armpits of their white T-shirts.

“If you have white T-shirts that get stubborn stains under the armpits, I’m gonna show you how to get it out,” Alexa said in a recording.

Why there’s yellow stains on the armpits of your white T-shirts

“Okay, but back to the stain,” Alexa said. “So what you’re going to do is grab a bowl and mix in half a cup of distilled white vinegar, and also one teaspoon of liquid detergent.”

Using a cloth, rub on some of the mixture you just created, and use the cloth to start dabbing at the yellow stain on your shirt.

If the stain still isn’t coming out, take some dishwashing liquid soap, a clear one specifically, put it directly on the stain, and then sprinkle on some baking soda. The combination of baking soda and dish soap will create a paste.

Once again, use a cloth, or a toothbrush, and try to get at the stain with the dish soap and the baking soda.

Once the stain is out completely you can put the shirt in the washing machine and dryer and you should be good to go.

“But do not put it in the washing machine if there’s any remnants of that stain left,” Alexa warned.

“Because the heat of the dryer will really solidify that stain into the garment and it will become especially hard to get it out.”
